Our 2026 Charity Partner: Tom’s Trust

Each year, we’re proud to support a local charity making a real difference in people’s lives. For 2026, we’re delighted to be partnering with Tom’s Trust – the UK’s leading charity dedicated to providing psychological support to children with brain tumours and their families.

As part of this partnership, we’re excited to announce that the 5K event will be held in Tom’s Trust’s honour, with 100% of profits going directly to the charity. This means that every entry to the Tom’s Trust 5K will help fund vital mental health services for families going through the most difficult of journeys.

Tom’s Trust is also offering a limited number of sponsored places in the Northstowe Half Marathon for those who would like to run and raise money for the cause. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or lacing up for the first time, your efforts will have a lasting impact.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Tom’s Trust has been chosen as the official charity for the 2026 Northstowe Half Marathon. To also have the 5K event named in our honour is incredibly meaningful. Every step taken on the day will help raise vital funds to support children with brain tumours and their families with the psychological care they so urgently need. We’re proud to stand alongside the event and its community and can’t wait to see runners of all abilities come together to help create brighter futures beyond diagnosis.”
– Jess Wilde, Tom’s Trust’s Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager

Tom’s Trust was founded in 2011 by Tom’s parents, Debs Mitchell and Andrew Whitele,y after he died from a brain tumour, aged nine in 2010. No mental health support was given to their family as they navigated his diagnosis, and they grew determined that no other family should go through what they had experienced, unsupported. Since then, the charity has supported hundreds of families across the UK by funding specialist clinical psychologists within NHS hospitals, including Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge. Their work ensures that children facing brain tumours not only survive, but also thrive, with the emotional and cognitive support needed to rebuild their lives.

We hope you’ll join us in supporting this vital cause. Whether you take part in the 5K, apply for a sponsored Half Marathon place, volunteer on race day, or simply make a donation, you’ll be helping bring hope and healing to children and families in need.
