Northstowe Half Marathon and Fullscope 5K course map revealed

We’re excited to reveal the 2022 Northstowe Half Marathon route which has a bit of almost everything, except hills!

This very flat multi-terrain course will take you from the new developments of modern Northstowe Town, via peaceful paths around the lake and out past some of neighbouring Longstanton’s historical landmarks into the surrounding countryside with its open skies and wide natural vistas. You’ll be surprised to see so much diversity within the half marathon distance and you won’t be bored, we promise!

With permission from local land owners, some of the route is on private land,  making it a unique running experience. Starting and finishing at Northstowe Secondary College the single lap route takes in some of the new development, the quiet paths around the water park lake and some of the established bridleways and farm tracks around neighbouring villages. You’ll pass by some local landmarks with historical significance, including a rare 1941 cantilevered pillbox and the Church of St Michael, an early 13th century listed building notable for its thatched roof.

Our Fullscope 5K route is flat and fast, also starting and finishing at the secondary college and looping once around the perimeter of the water park lake on level footpaths and cycle lanes. The landscaping is becoming established and there’s a chance to spot nesting swans and other wildlife.

For those who have never been to Northstowe or this part of the country before, we recommend checking our photo gallery below. This will not replace the experience of running here but should give you some idea of what to expect from the 2022 course.

Thanks to Northstowe Secondary College, Homes England, L&Q Estates, Greenbelt, Welney Farms Property Limited and Cambridgeshire County Council for their support and permissions with this year’s route – it’s always a challenge to make everything work together in a rapidly growing new town!

We can’t wait to see you all on the start line of one of the races!
